Filtered Presence is a collaborative project exploring the possibility of sacred feeling inside contemporary digital space.

Using the same audio-visual languages, filters and mechanics that normally shape online experience, we try to interrupt their habitual functioning – creating moments of discomfort, recognition and emotional rupture.

We call the method digital excavations.

We combine scrolling with dirt, compression with memory, artificial images with physical textures. We search through layers of digital and material reality trying to reach sensations that appear before language – something hidden beneath endless consumption and noise.

The objects inside Filtered Presence function like fragments of memory: imagined artifacts from forgotten civilizations, lost rituals or fictional religions. They feel simultaneously ancient and synthetic, familiar and impossible – like memories that never truly existed, but still emotionally persist somewhere beneath consciousness.

Technology is not the subject.

We are not interested in creating a spectacle of media tools. Instead, we use whatever instruments allow us to reach specific emotional states.

The visual side

3D primitivism combined with fragments of reality: phone-shot footage, found recordings, and stock visual effects elements. Instead of seamless realism, it embraces the tension between synthetic construction and captured material.

AI-assisted animation is used selectively, primarily when it enables forms of transformation that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through conventional workflows. Large collections of photographic textures, such as hundreds of images of soil and ground surfaces, are morphed into one another to produce subtle, living movements.

The sound

We use tape loops, resampling, spectral reconstruction and cassette recording are used to create sound that feels archival, ritualistic and physically present. We also often use noise as a representation of a living divine particle. Noise is perceived differently by each person, and within it one can hear different things depending on the listener.

In our musical approach, we also draw inspiration from rhythmic patterns that resemble imagined ancient rituals, using them as a foundation for the composition.

Filtered Presence is designed as an immersive process, not a static artwork.

Social media becomes only the entrance point, real transformation happens through longer exposure – through physical scale, darkness, repetition and sound experienced in space.

The current work acts as a gateway into the wider world of Filtered Presence – a first entrance into an expanding digital museum populated by artifacts, excavations and future discoveries.

In the coming months, we plan to continue releasing new β€œexcavations” – objects and fragments discovered within the world of Filtered Presence, each developing its own narrative and transformation over time.

In August, Filtered Presence will also be presented live at ŞUAQ Festival, Kazakhstan.

An immersive audiovisual performance guiding visitors through the same process of searching, memory and sensation that shaped the project itself.
